Alikanas Resort

The Alikanas resort is located in the immediate proximity of another resort, Alikes. Unlike Alikes, it is more peaceful and less touristy. Both resorts can be found about one kilometre from each other and they basically follow up with each other with their beaches. The region where they are located stretches in the north of Zakynthos a little less than 20 km from the capital. Both places have been named after salt mines (´alykes´ in Greek) that you can see outside the town.

The place has enough accommodation capacity for every budget; including hotels, pensions and bungalows but also private rooms and suites. The offer of different services is also sufficient: there are enough tavernas and restaurants as well as shopping options in small shops where you can buy foodstuffs, basic daily articles, and souvenirs. In the classical Greek tavernas, you can taste some of the local specialities, in particular in the original village of Alikinas where you can sit down and listen to live music. There are also fastfood restaurants and places offering international cuisine. Although the resort is quite calm, you will also find there places that become lively even during the night.

You will find a medical care centre in Alikes but there is also a possibility to call a doctor to your hotel in Alikanas.

Alikanas beach

The main attraction of the resort is its beach with a sandy surface (Alikanas Beach). With its gentle slope into the water, it is perfect for small children and less experienced swimmers. The water there is perfectly clean and crystal clear. You can also rent there an umbrella and a deckchair.

What to do in Alikanas?

The resort is located in a fertile lowland full of olive trees and almost untouched nature, so you shouldn´t really miss walks to the surroundings and other beaches along the coast. You can walk or use a bicycle, a car, a motorbike, or the public transport (there are regular buses). In the region there are archaeological sites definitely worth visiting. And, last but not least, the sea is tempting to go for a boat ride, on which you can visit e.g. the Blue Caves or the Navagio beaches. For more beaches on Zakynthos, see Zakynthos beaches.
