Alikes
Alikes Resort
The recreational resort of Alikes is located in the immediate proximity of another resort bearing a similar name - Alikanas, with both resorts being connected. Yet unlike Alikinas, Alikes is a bit more lively and also more touristy. Both resorts can be found about one kilometres from each other, basically following up one with another with their beaches. The region where they are located stretches in the north of Zakynthos a little less than 20 km from the capital. Both places have been named after salt mines (´alykes´ in Greek) that you can see outside the town.
Despite being more lively than the resort of Alikanas nearby, Alikes is popular among families with children, and so, it is really peaceful. The local beach covered with fine sand and washed by the crystal clear water of the Inonian sea is frequently sought-after by the visitors. You can rent there umbrellas and deckchairs, and the more active ones can try some of the water sports.
You will also find there a medical care centre and bus connection to other places includin the island capital.
Alikes beach
The beach in Alikes is sandy and spatious. The entry into the sea there is gentle like in the nearby Alikinas, and therefore suitable for small children. You will find there all the beach equipment including refreshment, umbrellas and deckchairs, and a variety of water sports.
What to do in Alikes
In the place you will find restaurants and tavernas (some of them with live music), bars, discos, fastfood restaurants and little shops with articles for tourists. As for the accommodation, everyone can choose depending on their budget and preferences.
The resort of Alikes stretches in a fertile lowland landscape with many olive trees. The almost untouched nature is tempting to go on romantic walks in the surroundings, and discover more beaches along the coast. You can go on a trip using various means of transport - a bicycle, a car or a jeep, a motorbike or use the public transport. Or you can simply walk, which will allow you to savour the landscape passing by to the fullest.
In the Alikes region, there are also archaeological sites definitely worth seeing. And, last but not least, you can go on a boat ride that will take you to the Blue caves. Those are the higlight of all gems you can see on the island.
