The island capital of Thassos - Limenas

The island capital of Thassos, Limenas, is a typical Greek seaside town. From the port, there are ferries departing regularly both to the ancient Kavala on the Greek mainland and trips around the island.

In Limenas, you will find an old and a new port, and a countless number of tavernas, bars and cafés, and the shops offer a wide variety of all kinds of goods. If you like to have fun at night, you will enjoy some of the  local discos.

Many of the town´s historical sites have been preserved, mostly archaeological finds, columns and mosaics. One of the most significant monuments is the ancient amphitheatre located on a beautiful place above the town, There is an archaeological museum and the archaeological works are still taking place.
