Lassi
Lassi Resort
With its position close to the Cephalonia capital of Argostoli, Lassi is one one of the most popular and most sought-after resorts. It is located on the west coast on the same tip where you can find the capital. The accommodation facilities are concentrated in private houses and pensions with family atmosphere, some of them with their own gardens and swimming pools where you can relax in peace and cool yourself down in nice, clean and disinfected water.
Lassi beaches
There are two beaches in Lassi - Makris Yialos, meaning ´long sandy beach´, and Platis Yialos, with its name saying something like ´wide sandy beach´. Both of them can boast a long mass of goldish sand sloping gently to the depths of the sea. Therefore bathing there is completely safe for small children as well as less experienced swimmers. In the place, you will find umbrellas and deckchairs but you can also simply bring a blanket or a towel. Refreshment is assured in the local bars and tavernas. If you feel like doing some water sports, there is a countless number of options. The local clubs will lend you all the equipment needed and they can give you the basic training and instructions. Some of the most popular sports are e.g. water skiing, riding a banana boat, or a much calmer ride on a paddle boat. The beach staff takes care of the beach cleanliness, so you won´t really encounter there any rubbish. The well-maintained changing cubicles and showers are also considered to be the standard comfort.
What to do in Lassi?
Once you have enough of the busy beach and want to enjoy a bit of privacy, set off to the surroundings where you will find adorable bays with caves with a much more peaceful atmosphere. Those places will delight especially the lovers of diving and snorkelling.
During the day, besides idling on the beach, you can do some shopping in the little shops where you can get foodstuffs, basic articles and souvenirs. In the evening, you can go for a nice walk listening to traditional Greek music or have a tasty drink and a bit to eat in some of the tavernas. Especially during the high season, you can experience there a genuine Greek night with loud music and a fresh rhythmic dance. If you get a hankering for even more hilarious entertainment, visit the capital of Argostoli where you can get by bus or a taxi within a few minutes. It has enough nightclubs and discos to choose from. One of the renowned restaurants is Sir-Taki with delicious cuisine. In the evening you can also walk to the square where you can get tasty (and cheap) gyros.
