Potos Resort

The very popular and lively resort, port and one of the biggest towns on Thassos is located in the south of the island. Today no one would belive that this busy resort used to be a place where fishermen were departing on their boats daily to earn their living.

In the narrow streets of the town, there are plenty of opportunities to go shopping and sit down in some of the tavernas where you can soak up the island atmosphere and watch the bustle. In the local shops you can get both fresh and non-perishable foodstuffs, souvenirs, clothes, jewellery, and more. During the night, the resort becomes lively with a new energy. Many bars and clubs blare out varied music and invite to go dancing, listening to the music and drink. Some of the places are open from the sunset till the dawn.

Once you get tired of carefree idling and night merrymaking, set off for a trip. The best option is to rent a car or a motorbike in some of the local rental services. On the other hand, if you decide to walk, you will be able to absorb all the beauties ot the surrounding mountainous landscape and the whole island, especially in the interior and along the coast. You can also see the offer of some of the hotels and travel agencies. 

Potos beaches

In the resort of Potos, you will find three nice beaches, all of them really close to the town centre. The biggest several kilometres long beach is covered with rather coarse sand, little stones, and softer sand in some parts. The sun there beats down all the day through, and so, the beach is perfect to sunbathe lying on a deckchair you can rent, taking a dip in the refreshing sea water. You can also refresh yourself with delicious drinks in some of the many bars and tavernas. If you get a hankering for more action, set off to the sea on a boat or a paddle boat, or try some of the sports on dry land, like beach volleyball or frisbee, for example. The two other beaches are much smaller, one being a rather intimate one, the second one belonging to one of the hotels. If this doesn´t satisfy you, go to Pefkari or Limenaria where more beaches can be found - as there are many of them, you don´t need to be afraid to not to find space just for yourself.
