Laganas Resort

Probably the most famous and most popular holiday resort on Zakynthos is Laganas, a place that can be found in the south of the island. For its demanding visitors, Laganas has luxury hotels with their own swimming pools, and many top standard services. The tavernas near the beach and in the town centre offer both traditional Greek specialities and continental cuisine (adapted to the foreign visitors).

The Laganas beach is truly unique as it is almost 10 km long, ranking among the longest beaches in Greece. Just imagine the mass of hot goldisg sand in which your bare feet are sinking! The beach is a real paradise.

The coast is washed by the water of the Ionian Sea which is still clean and crystal clear despite the number of people in the place. The gentle slope into the water is perfect especially for children and less experienced swimmers. You can rent there an umbrella and a deckchair, and obviously refresh yourself in the bars, tavernas, restaurants and clubs along the beach. Those of a more adventurous nature and the lovers of adrenaline won´t say no to water skiing and other water sports. Near the beach, you can also buy foodstuffs and souvenirs. During some parts of the high season, you need to follow the strict measures aiming to protect the rare turtle species hatching their eggs. During this period, you can´t go on a night walk to the beach, stick your umbrellas into the sand, and so on.

What to do in Laganas?

During the night, Laganas becomes lively with hilarious merrymaking, which is what the resort is renowned for, considered to be the busiest tourist destination on the whole island. The beach changes into one huge disco with plenty of young people having fun.

In the place there is bus transport both to the airport and the capital of Zakynthos where you can make a nice trip. The bus stop can be found at the end of the main road near the beach. But you can also set off to explore the surroundings on foot or on a bicycle, or rent a car and travel to the more distant parts of the island.

Half-day or all-day boat trips are also popular . by boat, you can visit e.g. the Blue Caves, the famous Navagio Beach, the island of Marathonissi (The Turtle Island), and other places of interest.
