Lardos Resort

When choosing a tour to Lardos, you need to consider the difference between the village of Lardos and the Lardos resort. Travel agencies often state Lardos is a beautiful village with a splendid atmosphere and plenty of tavernas, which is true, yet the resort itself where you can find accommodation is located about 2 km from there and it is a typical tourist complex. But still this region belongs to the best on the island. The about 1-2 km wide area is located between two hills and it is completely flat. There are no high edifices and it has plenty of green vegetation, so the buildings can´t be seen and the whole area looks peaceful and relaxed. Lardos is also a good point of departure to go on trips. It is really easy to get anywhere on the island from the resort; Rhodes offers many historical sites as well as natural places of interest, and it would be a pity to miss them.

Lardos beach

The beach in Lardos is covered with a mixture of sand and pebbles, and it offers everything you might need for sunbathing, including umbrellas and deckchairs but also rental services. The beach is about 2 km long and you will find there both calm and busy places. To the east, the beach stretches up to the resort of Pefki on about 4 km. Towards the west, you will find the very famous and nice beach of Glistra. Lardos surroundings

In fact the same is true about the Lardos village - there is only a road connecting the resort and the village. Yet you should definitely not miss Lardos, whether you decide to stay there or are just passing by. The village has an original housing development, a beautiful square, dozens of tavernas, and the whole place exudes peace. Before sitting on the square to drink coffee, go for a short walk - the narrow stone paved streets, decorative flowers, white and colourful houses and the ubiquitous life of the locals will certainly impress you.

History of Lardos

The village of Lardos is one of the most significant places in its surroundings. In the past it used to be the place where important cultural events and encounters were held, and even nowadays you can see parades, celebrations or concerts on the square.
