One thing that should be noted at the very beginning is that Lindos is a name for an old fishing village but at the same time the Lindos bay, located about 5 km far away from the nice part of the resort. Travel agencies often offer tours to the very Lindos bay with the beach of Vlicha and small hotel complexes. The bay is about 1 km wide, with a wide beach covered with small pebbles stretching all along its length. In the northern part, there are a few buildings on the slope, pertaining to two hotel complexes, right in the middle of the bay, there is a huge four-storey hotel, and that is all. You can see there a tree here and there, and a shed that becomes a taverna in the high season, but otherwise the place quite misses the Greek atmosphere. Yet if you want to just stay in your hotel and idle on the beach, the place is not that bad. It also has quite a good location in case you want to rent a car and get to know the beauties of the island, but otherwise the place is not really special. If you want to visit the old Lindos with the village and the castle with the acropolis, you would need to walk 5 km up to a hill. There is a bus connection between Lindos and the capital of Rhodes.

Lindos village

The original village of Lindos is a totally different place - it is a historic port, settled as far as in the 6th century BC. The region has preserved its original architecture as a classical Greek village with white houses on the slope, and almost all the historical sites that can be found there are unique and very rare, including the Lindos Acropolis, the remains of the local theatre, the Tomb of Cleobulus. There are a few agencies offering tours to this attractive location, so you should be really careful and make sure you will be there and not near the Vlicha Beach. To get to the Acropolis, you can walk through the crooked streets of old Lindos, or get there on a donkey, which will be an unforgettable experience especially for children.

Lindos beaches

In the Lindos surroundings, there are also beautiful sandy beaches. There are two beaches in the north, a small and a bigger one. The amazing thing about this place is that when bathing in the sea, you will see the monumental white village of Lindos on the slope and the Acropolis on the top. On the other side of the hill, there is a splendid and picturesque St. Paul´s Bay with beaches that have been made for romantic holiday. If you are visiting Rhodes, you should definitely not miss Lindos and its beautiful surroundings. The water there is usually clean and calm.
