Lygaria Resort

Lygaria is a small resort offering all the comfort of huge resorts, yet all that preserving its peace and charm. The resort is formed by a beautiful bay with a sandy beach.

What to do in Lygaria

In Lygaria, you will find everything you would expect from a place for your holiday - nice accommodation, enough places for a nice sit-down but also more lively entertainment. Just over the hill west of the resort, about a 20-minute walk, you will find the resort of Aghia Pelaghia.

If you feel like going on a walk or a small trip, from Lygaria you can walk to other nearby resorts (Aghia Pelaghia, Paleokastro) which are located only a few hundreds of metres away, or possibly also visit some of the nearby historical sites. For example, in the village of Achlada, located 4 km west of Lygaria, there is a nice stone fountain and two churches (dedicated to Aghios Ioannis and Aghios Tryfonas) with beautiful carved icons.

Another interesting place in the surroundings of the resort is the Savathianon Monastery. In its premises, it has a cave with an inbuilt church (Aghios Antonio).

Lygaria location

The Lygaria resort is located 22 km west of Heraklion and approx. 20 minutes east over the hill of the Aghia Pelaghia resort. In the direction of Lygaria - Heraklion, you will find a few more resorts - about 10 km far away, there is the resort of Paleokastro and the village of Rogdia. Chania is located about 99 km far away. You can get to Lygaria simply with your own car on the road from Heraklion to Rethymno, and there is also regular bus connection to the resort (the bus doesn´t enter to Lygaria but from the bus stop, it is only a few minutes to the resort and the beaches).
