When staying in the Stavros resort, you will be surrounded by sandy beaches. If you are searching for a calm and peaceful resort and enjoy vast sandy beaches with beautiful lagoons and enough privacy, then Stavros is the right choice.
What to do in Stavros
Stavros lacks the historical background of romantic villages since it is basically a clump of big or small accommodation facilities built mainly during the last 25 years. Staying there is a completely unique experience as everything in the resort is built on a flat desert-like promontory forming two large gulfs and a few smaller bays with crystal clear water.
The Stavros resort has basic tourist equipment - you will find there a few tavernas, a bar, a general store, and beach equipment in some palces. If you want to enjoy more social or night life, you will need to go to the nearby town of Chania.
The beautiful beaches are surrounding the resort from three sides, with the beache passing into a high rock on one side. Given the beauty of the resort, some of the scenes of Zorba the Greek movie were shot there.
History of Stavros
Stavros is a desert-like place where the first housing development only appeared about 25 years ago.
The Stavros resort is located in the western part of the Akrotiri peninsula, approx. 14 km north of the beautiful historic town of Chania. The resort can be easily accessed by all means of transport including the local public buses (there is a bus stop in the very resort).
