Kalyves Resort

The Kalyves resort is a very nice place. It was originally a poor farming village which grew up continuously, and today, it is a beautiful place surrounded by olive groves and vineyards.

Kalyves has preserved its historical character till nowadays and it has become a resort sought-after by all who enjoy calm, peace and relaxation, all that in the atmosphere of a genuine Cretan village. Both Kalyves and its surroundings is considered to be one of the greenest places on Crete at all, as they are full of bushes and trees stretching up to the long sandy beach.

Kalyves beaches

Kalyves has two beaches: the main one is very popular since it is a part of the village, lined by a colonnade with plenty of trees and many tavernas and bars. It has a very gentle slope into the water and the sea there is shallow, therefore the place is perfect also for families with children. The second beach is located on the west margin of Kalyves. It is not so well equipped, yet it provides more calm and privacy.

In the village itself, you will find a few bars and tavernas, and also a car and bicycle rental service. During the high season, a local disco will open so you can enjoy a bit of nightlife, too.

If you decide to travel to Kalyves on your own, you will find there various kinds of accommodation including luxury hotels but also private accommodation.  

Kalyves has something for all. Bedies those who enjoy peace and calm, kalyves is also perfect for the lovers of nature and beautiful sceneries. When looking to the south, you can observe the wall of mountain ranges rising to the height of up to 2453 m - the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) with a very interesting landscape and one unique place - the largest canyon in Europe, the Samaria Gorge.

If you like history and beautiful historical towns, you can visit the nearby town of Chania, the ancient historical site of Aptera, or Almirida.
