Sfakaki Resort

The Sfakaki resort is basically the same like other resorts nearby, as the area of Rethymno - Missiria - Skaleta forms one tourist complex with similar facilities and conditions in any part. Formerly a small fishing village, today´s Sfakaki is one large well-equipped tourist complex providing all the background necessary to spend a perfect holiday full of fun and relaxation both during the day and night. The Sfakaki resort is located in a relatively plain area, and, with a few exceptions, the housing development is very low, so the view on the resort is really nice. There are lawns between the buildings everywhere, most hotels have a garden with tall palm trees, often rising above the roofs, and all the environment resembles more a luxury tropical resort.

Sfakaki beaches

Unlike other tourist resorts on Crete, Sfakaki stands out mainly for its long and plain beach stretching from the west up to the eastern part of the town of Rethymno. The beach is 12 km long, and, starting from the resort of Skaleta, you will find there the resorts of Stavromenos, Sfakaki, Pigianos Kambos, Adelianos Kambos, Platanias and Perivola. The long beaches in Sfakaki are perfect for romantic walks, while the great number of beach tavernas and bars are ideal to take a rest. If you have children, you will certainly appreciate also the very gentle slope into the water, perfect for various games in the shallow water. 

What to do in Sfakaki?

Not only the beach but also the resort itself offers a great number of tavernas, various shops, bars, discos and rich nightlife. 

For those who don´t search just for the luxury of tourist resorts and beaches but also like nature, historical sites and like to make trips, Sfakaki is the perfect point of departure to get to know the central parts of Crete and its south coast. Close to Rethymno, there starts the main road leading to the south, on which you can easily get to the places like Hora Sfakion, Plakias, Kommos or Matala. Given that close to Sfakaki, there is also the main road connecting the west and the east of the island, you can easily access also the towns like Chania or the capital of Heraklion.
