Almyrida Resort
Almyrida is originally a small fishing village surrounded by beautiful beaches, many interesting places from the historical point of view, and other original villages that have preserved their historical character and atmosphere till noawadays. As a tourist resort, Almyrida only started developping a few years ago, therefore it has many places still untouched by tourism. Together with the environment-friendly approach and moderate construction, Almyrida is defeinitely a place worth visiting.
What to do in Almyrida?
In the resort of Almyrida, the tourists will find everything they might need on their holiday; including many bars and tavernas but also shops with basic goods and groceries.
With the progressive development of the resort, more possibilities of night entertainment appear. If the options in Almyrida weren’t enough for you, you can visit some of the surrounding resorts (e.g. Kalyves located 4 km west), or the nearby beautiful historic town of Hania where the possibilities of entertainment are basically unlimited.
The beach in Almyrida is wide, with fine sand and the entry into the shallow water of the bay where the resort is located is very gentle.
On your walks in the surroundings of Almyrida, we recommend you to visit the neighbouring village of Plaka lying on a slope and with a beautiful view on the whole Souda Bay (the bay stretches from this place up to the historic town of Hania located 25 km away) and the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) reaching the height of 2453 m with its peak of Pachnes).
If you want to spend your holiday more actively, the Almyrida resort is a good departure point to travel in the west Crete, including the visit of the beautiful south coast and the places like Mount Sfakion, Plakias or the region of Kommos - Lendas
