Středisko Acharavi

The tourist resort of Acharavi is located in the northern tip of Corfu, forming the imaginary triplet of popular tourist destinations together with the resorts of Sidari a Roda, visited by tens of thousands of tourists every year. It could be said that Acharavi is a kind of a capital of the northern part of the island, procuring services not only for tourists but also for the locals from the remote surroundings, including medical care, public institutions, post office, banking services and shops. The centre consists of one main road and side streets meeting down at the beach.

Local supermarkets offer both Greek and imported groceries, and especially the very tasty Greek bakery products. In the local restaurants or some of the many tavernas, you can enjoy Greek specialities, but they also offer dished of other cuisines, including Chinese, Indian or Italian. You will also find there souvenir shops and shops with local folk art.

Acharavi beach

The whole resort is lined by a several kilometres long beach with small pebbles. The entry into the sea there is gentle, and a several dozens of metres long, so the beach can be enjoyed also by children and less experienced swimmers. The beach is equipped with umbrellas, deckchairs and showers. There are no toilets, yet you can use the facilities of the local bars located all along the beach. The town also has many facilities with swimming pools, including public ones which you can use in case your hotels doesn´t have its own swimming pool but you are supposed to buy at least a drink or small refreshment.

Acharavi is also a popular place among the divers and the lovers of undersea world. You can set off for the exciting journey of the undersea secrets only with a snorkel, or use the services of the local diving schools. Yet the resort can also be enjoyed by the lovers of other water sports like water skiing, windsurfing or riding a rented motor boat. Or you can rent a jeep and go for a ride in the surroundings.

What to do in Acharavi

If you like to go out at night, you should definitely experience the local nightlife scene. Both the centre and the beaches offer a wide range of bars and clubs where you can have fun till early morning hours. Some venues are also tempting their visitors for various acitvities including karaoke, different competitions and live music.

In the surroundings, you can see with your own eyes how the plant from which the so much popular olive oil is extracted from grows, since Acharavi is surrounded by olive groves. A few kilometres further, you can visit the resort of Roda located within walking distance, or drive to the more remote town of Sidari with its famous Channel of Love. Another place worth seeing is also the village of Acharavi with its original houses and local inhabitants. Near Acharavi, there is also a new waterpark with plenty of water pleasures. especially for the children. Or you can make a nice trip to the Corfu capital, Kerkyra, with lots of historical sites, where you can sit down in some of the many local restaurants and tavernas.

Those who love nature can go on a trip to the Ekaterini Cape with a brackish water lake with many different animal species.
