Gouvia Resort
The Gouvia resort named after a bay of the same name, is located in a fairytale blue lagoon on the east coast of Corfu, surrounded by rocks as its protectors. The local climate is perfect both for summer and autumn holiday. Summers here are hot and the water is nicely warm till late autumn, which is also the reason why Gouvia is a very lively resort during the high season, with thousands of visitors heading for the place from the whole Europe and the rest of the world. The local port is very lively, too, welcoming boats and yachts, some of them very luxurious ones, from all parts of the world.
Gouvia beaches
Local beaches are covered with a mixture of big and small pebbles and sand. You can take a rest on the deckchairs and then wash off the salt water under the shower located on the beach. Close to the Gouvia resort, you will find the resort of Kontokali with its beach boasting the EU Blue Flag for top quality. Like in most resorts on Corfu, in Gouvia you can also pratice lots of water activities. You can try renting a boat or a motor boat, and experience a wild ride on the sea waves. Or you can take a look under the water surface and try diving.

Tavernas and restaurants
You definitely won´t be starving in the resort, as there is a wide choice of many tavernas, bars and restaurants where you can enjoy delicacies of all kinds, including tasty drinks. You should definitely try some of the Greek dainties with olives, vegetables, quality meat and traditional spices. Yet you can also try some Italian or Chinese cuisine. Since Gouvia is a frequent target of British tourists, you will also find there British dishes. including the traditional British breakfast.
Accommodation
In the Gouvia resort, you can stay in many diffrent places including luxury hotels but also student´s hostels, so you can choose depending on your taste and budget. If you decide to go shopping, you won´t be disappointed either. Right in the resort, there is a hypermarket and a few supermarkets, but also small shops. Or you can go to the nearby resorts, e.g. Dassia or Ipsos. After the sunset, Gouvia wakes up to the nightlife concentrated in its bars, clubs and discos where everyone can find the kind of entertainment they like.
What to do in Gouvia?
You can set off to explore the surroundings in a rented car, motorbike or a scooter - it will certainly be an exciting experience. You should be careful though as the accident rate on Corfu is rather high. If you decide to stay in the resort, visit the remains of the Venetian shipyard from the 17th century of which the whole vaults have been preserved and that creates a marvellous atmosphere smelling of history and the ancient times of seafarers and sea warriors. In Gouvia you can also find the remains of a castle from the era of Venetian dominion. On the opposite side of the bay, there rises a little church called Ipapandí, built on an island promontory. In the close surroundings, you can find two more resorts with their beaches and tavernas, e.g. the very lively town of Ipsos, the little less hilarious Dassia, and last but not least, the resort of Kommeno. Whether you go on a walking trip or on a horse, for example, on your trips in the surroundings you can savour the beauty of the olive groves and citrus plantations. You can also make a longer trip to the Corfu capital of Kerkyra, awaiting you with its endless number of historic sites, picturesque streets perfect for romantic walks, restaurants to enjoy a tasty meal, and plenty of more fun and relaxation.

Jak se tam dostanu
First, you will probably arrive at the island capital of Kerkyra where a port and the airport are located. From there, you can travel by bus or rent a car in a local car rental service. If you travel by car, it won´t be too difficult to find the resort as the roads on Corfu are quite clear and all the ways to the resorts are well signposted.
