Kassiopi Resort
Kassiopi is a beautiful tourist resort on the north-east of the island located 36 km of the island capital of Kerkyra. You will find there mostly nice low housing development and the town has a nice atmosphere, as it is situated between two peninsulas with several pebbly beaches in the surroundings hidden between the rocks, and so providing enough privacy. On the main street of the town passing along the port, you will find several shops, tavernas, bars and restaurants, and so everything you need to relax as a tourist. It is a colourful place surrounded by beautiful nature. On the horizon, there rises the majestic Mount Pantokrator, the highest peak on the island with green hills, citruses, grapevine all around, and the Albanian coast on the opposite side.
Kassiopi beaches
There are four beaches in Kassiopi resembling one another. The main one has a pebble surface and it offers a wide range of sports activities and water pleasures. It is lined by tavernas and bars where you can get some refreshment and ice-cold drinks. The water there stands out for its cleanliness, and so, the beach has been awarded the EU Blue Flag for top quality. Obviously you will find umbrellas and deckchairs on all beaches, with the main one also offering toilets, showers, and changing cubicles. As the beach stands out for its plain surface, cleanliness and shallow water, and it is located away from busy roads, it is also suitable for children. If you are a fan of water sports, you can try paragliding, water skiing, or diving. Those who prefer to do sports on dry land can use the local tennis courts or other sports facilities. In the surroundings there are also more, mostly pebble beaches, offering more privacy.
What to do in Kassiopi?
Despite being a fast-growing resort, Kassiopi still preserves its original atmosphere of a fishing village, mainly thanks to the local inhabitants of whom some still live by fishing. You will find there traditional pubs offering island specialities and nice staff, but also lively bars and discos.
In the surroundings, you can visit the ruins of Byzantine fortification, or go for a horse or a bike ride, or drive a motrobike. Those who like adrenaline activities can conquer the very Mount Pantokrator and will be rewarded with an amazing view from the peak on the surroundings. You should also visit the capital where you can walk on boulevards full of garden cafés and historic buildings. Other places worth visiting are the surrounding resorts, including Dassia or Sidari, for example. And if you feel like going for a boat ride, you can rent a boat and visit the charming islands of Paxos a Antipaxos.
