Agios Georgios south
Agios Georgios Resort
The Agios Georgios (St. George) resort is located near the lake Korission on the south-west coast of Corfu. Be careful about not confusing two places though, as there is a resort of the same name also in the north-easternn part of the island which is totally different. The south-western Agios Georgios can be characterized by green olive and pine groves, a beach with goldish sand, and sky-blue sea. If you decide to go shopping, in the centre of the resort you will find everything you might need - including groceries, or gifts for your friends and family. There are also restaurants where you can sit over a glass of good wine and Greek delicacies.
Beaches
In the resort there is a few kilometres long beach stretching all along the coast and covered with goldish shiny sand. In its northern part, you can even see sand dunes, separating the beach from the nearby Korrision lake. Yet in the northern part there are much more possibilities of holiday relaxation, including action water sports like windsurfing, water skiing and driving a motor boat, but also diving and snorkelling. Obviously there are showers on the beach. And once you get weary of it, you can swim in some of the many pools in the resort.
What to do in Agios Georgios
You can go on a trip to the surroundings by boat or a car (the prices for the rental are quite reasonable. Yet the long walks on the beach or to the olive groves can be a very nice relaxing experience. You can visit e.g. the nearby lake Korrision with salt water and its lagoon being surrounded by wild nature. In fact the resort is perfect for the lovers of nature as you can observe there many beauties of the local fauna and flora. For an all-day trip, visit the island capital located 30 km far away - there you can go on romantic walks through the picturesque historic streets, visit the well-known historic sites but also restaurants and discos. Other places worth visiting are some of the many traditional Greek villages.
Who is Agios Georgios suitable for?
The resort doesn´t have a too bustling nightlife; it is rather peaceful. Which is why the resort is recommended more to families and couples. In the town centre, you can find a few bars and clubs open all night long, yet to enjoy some more lively night entertainement, you should better visit the resort of Kávos located on the southernmost point of the island and offering many possibilities of cultural activities in bars, music clubs and discos.
